November 16, 2022, Ft. Myers, FL – Teresa Shea, a renowned defense, intelligence, and cybersecurity expert, joined the Cigent® Technology, Inc. Board of Directors. Cigent offers a new approach to data security for organizations of all sizes to stop ransomware and data theft, as well as achieve compliance.
Most recently, Shea was Raytheon's vice president of Cyber Offense Defense Experts-CODEX. Before that, she was the executive vice president of technology for In-Q-Tel, a strategic investment firm making investments in high-tech start-ups providing security solutions for U.S. intelligence agencies. She spent 32 years working at the National Security Agency culminating in the position of Signals Intelligence Director.
"We are pleased to welcome Teresa Shea to the Cigent Board," said Brad Rowe, Cigent’s chairman of the board. "As we continue our efforts to transform and advance cybersecurity technologies, Teresa's deep understanding of cybersecurity operations will be a valuable asset to Cigent."
"Teresa is one of the great minds in our industry," said John Benkert, CEO of Cigent Technology. "Teresa saw the potential in our products several years ago and was vital to our partnerships in the public sector. She will provide valuable guidance as we work to develop new relationships with government agencies and fulfill our mission of ending ransomware attacks and data theft, as well as compliance for business and government."
Cigent protects data at federal agencies, like the Department of Defense (DoD), against the most sophisticated adversaries and throughout its lifecycle. Those same Cigent protections apply commercially to safeguard sensitive data on endpoints continuously. Shea sees a real opportunity for Cigent to grow in both the public and private sectors.
"Cigent's ability to protect data is vitally important for every one of us," said Shea. "Protecting our most critical data is increasingly important with the data growth and the speeds of transmission increasing. Adversaries have a proven ability to access our data and Cigent brings a capability that stops this access. Companies, critical infrastructure providers, governments, and individuals need to be aware they can make data invisible to adversaries to prevent unauthorized access. Identifying our most sensitive data and stopping adversary access is essential not only to our national security but to our everyday lives."
Shea joins current Board Members:
- John Benkert, Chief Executive Officer of Cigent
- Tom DiBenedetto, Chief Executive Officer of Cyber Junction
- Brendan O’Halloran
- Brad Rowe, Chairman of the Board of Cigent
- David Schafer
